Suresh Gyan Vihar University’s School of Education took a significant step towards inclusive education by organizing a collaborative activity under the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram. The session, held on November 11, 2024, engaged teacher trainees in a mission to contribute to adult literacy and lifelong learning.
The initiative aimed to empower individuals aged 15 and above who missed formal schooling, helping them gain essential literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Beyond basic education, ULLAS focuses on financial and digital literacy, vocational training, and holistic development. Through this program, volunteers play a key role in ensuring that education reaches every corner of society, fostering self-reliance and community growth.
As part of this initiative, an orientation programme was conducted in collaboration with the Cell for National Centre for Literacy (NCERT, New Delhi), Samajik Chetna Kendra, and RIE Ajmer. The session equipped teacher trainees with the knowledge and tools to become volunteers under the ULLAS scheme, using the ULLAS app to engage learners effectively. With 55 students participating, the program emphasized the transformative power of education and the collective effort needed to build a literate nation.
The Government of India launched ULLAS to align with the National Education Policy 2020, reinforcing the vision of “Jan Jan Saakshar”—a fully literate India. This initiative goes beyond teaching reading and writing; it empowers individuals to improve their livelihoods, financial independence, and societal contributions.
This collaborative activity reaffirmed SGVU’s commitment to inclusive education and community welfare. The enthusiasm of participants reflected their dedication to making a difference, ensuring that literacy becomes a tool for empowerment, self-sufficiency, and national development.
