Suresh Gyan Vihar University lays emphasis on conduction of research activities in agricultural and other interdisciplinary fields. The university is fully furnished with well- equipped laboratories, one of the largest library (House of Wisdom), lecture rooms and excellent farm facility (3.94 hectare) to conduct agricultural experiments. Research Scholars learn about innovative research and inventions in the field of agriculture, like preparation of Bio fertilizers, stress tolerant crops, insecticides, disease resistance, transgenic plants etc. with extensive fieldwork including different trials.

The University is conducting Joint National Entrance Test twice in year for students who are keen in doing research. The test is conducted at particular venue of university for all disciplines as per schedule mentioned under the head at proposed date and time. Horticulture is one of the most dynamic and colorful sector of agriculture. The tasks of horticultural engineers have been broadening and consist of not only cultivation and processing of plants but also management, consulting, organizing an activity, quality assurance, marketing, and services. The MSc Agriculture program with specialization in horticulture at SGVU sufficiently trains students through disciplinary coursework and research experience to provide horticulture expertise and knowledge in horticulture degree, allowing one to communicate with professionals from a broad range of specialities involved in horticultural systems management and research.

It is already a known fact that the importance of Agronomy is auspicious for natural occurring resources and their production. Productivity in the agricultural sector is rapidly changing with the emerging use of innovative technologies. The shift necessitates the education and development of specialists, ready to transform agricultural practices using technologies that are more efficient, productive, and profitable and to provide quality food to the world’s growing population. Agronomy is a science of agriculture which mainly targets yielding optimum crop production through effective field management. The MSc Agriculture program with specialization in Agronomy integrates various allied aspects of agronomy with plant sciences and plays a vital role in increasing agricultural productivity and improving food security. Students of Agronomy learn many concepts like soil fertility, crop ecology, sustainable agriculture, and the agronomy of major cereals and pulses. Here, we teach and apply an advanced concept of agriculture which assists candidates to become experts in increasing crop production by estimating soil, field, and seeds.

The challenges of a rapidly growing population, climate change, and the limitations of land & fresh water have impacted the ability of agriculture to meet the demand for food, fiber, and fuel. To address this demand, an understanding of the complex factors that shape the systems is necessary. Plant Breeding is a science and art of changing the genetic constitution of plants for the benefit of mankind. It involves recombining genes from the same species, and where technology allows, precise genetic information can be constituted from different species of plants as well as introducing many superior qualities derived from Plant Breeding & Genetic information of other organisms not originally present in plants.
