Speaking with our Gyan Viharites is always fun, sweet, and inspiring. We talk, learn more about each other, and drive the interesting details of our student success stories and achievements. Another great placement happened of our MBA Final year 2021 batch student, Nikhil Gangwani, SGVU in Jaro Education at a package of 8.46 Lakhs per annum. Excerpts from the conversation.
I: Currently in which semester are you studying at Suresh Gyan Vihar University.
N: 4 semester in the MBA Finance and Banking 2021 batch.
I : When did you receive your placement news?
N: Within 2 weeks of the final interview at Jaro Education.
I: According to you what lead to your selection?
N: They were looking at somebody who could answer the queries of the customers, who is customer-centric and has a mind-set of serving the customer. Last year, during Covid-19, I took up customer care support role for 1 year, which was a WFH role along with my MBA studies. Learnings from that role certainly helped me understand the company requirements better. In total, I have a work experience of 1.8 years.
I: What made you go for MBA in Banking and Finance?
N: As I was good with calculations, after completing my graduation in B. Com, I went with MBA in Banking and Finance. As per the guidance of my professor at Gyan Vihar University, I was advised to do my minors in Marketing to keep my career prospects high and have an additional value/advantage to my MBA professional degree.
I: How was your campus life at SGVU?
N: Being the only localite in my batch of about 45 students, I was always the go-to guy for all my batch mates since they are from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar and many other cities.
I: What all extra-curricular activities did you take an active part in?
N: During my first semester at Gyan Vihar University, I played basketball since I had played national level twice in basketball in my graduation. I took an active part in our University’s International school of business management fest – Exuberance 2021 and was the coordinator of last year’s fest too.
I: Apart from focussing on your majors, share with us some of your personal passions?
N: I have played national level two times in basketball and played state level badminton as well in my graduation. I do like traveling and swimming as well.
I: What advice would you give to your Juniors?
N: I would like to give three-steps advice to our juniors. First, clearly evaluate reality, secondly make effective decisions and finally achieve your goals.
I: How did you prepare for the interview, any special pointers you made note of?
N: Be confident and energetic throughout the interview. Be particular about how you present yourself. Maintain yourself with very formal dress code and look smart. Talk only in English. Use good English vocabulary in your communication. Be polite, energetic and maintain eye contact. Be poised and try to leave a mark on them by your personality.
It was wonderful to have this conversation with Nikhil and we wish him great success in all his work and personal endeavours. He wished to give his special thanks to Ms. Aditi Mathur Ma’am and SGVU’s placement department along with his amazing mother who helped him at every phase of his MBA course.
