Program Structure

Eligibility

  • Biotechnology/ Microbiology: Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category) in any branch of Science / Agriculture/ Pharmacy / Veterinary / Medicine (MBBS) / Medical Lab Technology / Nursing.
  • Virology & Immunology: Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category) in Life Sciences/Medicine (MBBS) / BVSc / B.Sc. Virology & Immunology or Biotechnology or Microbiology or Biochemistry or Zoology or Medical Lab Technology.
  • Chemistry: Bachelor's Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category) in Science with Chemistry as compulsory subject.
  • Physics: Bachelor's Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate (5% relaxation in case of SC/ST category) in Science with Physics as compulsory subject.

Duration

The program is divided into 2 years consisting of 4 semesters. The subjects included are divided in such a way that the students start from the basics of every subject and later become skilled and proficient in it. The students attend classes, practical, lab projects, seminars, conferences etc for better understanding of their course and its implementation in daily life.

  • Biotechnology being the applied biology sector in Make in India, Govt of India initiative is a major accelerating sector in the field of applied biology. Comprehensive and industry-inspired course that deal with making students industry and research-ready in every aspect.
  • Microbiology is primarily composed of different medical outlooks of virology, bacteriology, immunology, and infections, etc. Being research driven courses, it is expected to accelerate our past year scattered research and is dedicated to high quality research.
  • Virology & Immunology concentrates the scholar’s study on a detailed description of viruses that include their evolution, classification and their detailed structure and their mechanism of action through which they infect and manipulate living cells for their indifferent reproduction strategies. This also consists of the study of different viral diseases and fundamentally essential techniques that are employed to isolate and culture viruses for their use in research and therapeutic uses.
  • Studies on chemical sciences covers all aspects of the different branches of chemistry and lays emphasis on detailed understanding of the fundamental principles and on training in appropriate computational and experimental methods. The minimum duration is 2 years. Chemical science provides an understanding of the physical and chemical properties of atoms molecules and a practical method of creating chemical structures. Usage of the knowledge for solving complex problems in various fields such as Pharmaceutical, biochemical and petrochemicals.
  • The main goals of Physics are to gain a deep understanding of the universe at its most fundamental levels and to extend such knowledge to more complicated systems ranging from the subatomic to the cosmological scale. Physics can then be considered the basis for all natural sciences and the bearing structure of any modern technological development.

The Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur is a renowned University, established by an Act of State Legislature in the State of Rajasthan by the Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur Act, 2008 (Act No. 16 of 2008). For the 5th consecutive year, SGVU has been ranked by the NIRF-2025 in the Rank-Band of 101-150 with the School of Pharmacy at 39th rank, overall ranking in the rank band 151-200 and for the first time appeared among the top SDG institutions in the rank band of 11-50. It is due to the consistent effort of ensuring quality and ethics in our delivery that the SGVU is a NAAC "A+" grade accredited institution with a score of 3.32 out of 4.
