Applied science is the application of existing scientific knowledge to come up with practical, and innovative solutions to technological problems.The School of Applied Sciences at SGVU offers research-centric courses in physics, biology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, microbiology, genetic engineering , bioinformatics etc. which includes B.Sc. (PCM), B.Sc. (CBZ) in Chemistry, botany, zoology— which is a combined course that deals in detail the technicalities of all the three subjects while encouraging the students to apply biological data analysis, analytical chemistry and applied zoology; B.Sc. in biotechnology which teaches the essence of biological world and the techniques to transform or design living organisms or part of them to design products essential for human welfare; B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genetics—B.Sc. (Biomedical Science) which recognises the need of highly skilled scientist conversant across various disciplines and trains the scholar in same; B.Sc. (Forensic Science) is a highly multi-disciplinary field that involves studying biology, chemistry, mathematics, criminal law, and a student’s chosen specific field and B.Sc. in Virology and Immunology that has widespread application in the medical industry. The University also offers postgraduate courses in virology and immunology, microbiology, physics and biotechnology thus providing opportunities to perform biomedical researches employing highly advanced strategies.
