The Suresh Gyan Vihar University conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Literature in Higher Education, on H.E. Badara Alieu Joof, Vice-President of The Gambia on 20th July 2022 for his outstanding contribution to the cause of Higher Education and services to the Poor in The Gambia. Mr. Madhusudan Sharma, IAS (Retd.), Registrar along with Dr. Deep Mathur Director of Global Outreach, and Mr. Manish Shrivastava Principal Hotel Management, awarded this Honorary Degree on behalf of Suresh Gyan Vihar University to His Excellency, Vice-President of The Gambia at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi.
Suresh Gyan Vihar University conferred the Honorary degree upon Mr. Badara Alieu Joof for his dedicated and luminary work. Mr. Joof served as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, the Gambia government from 2017 to 2022. Before that Mr. Joof worked as the World Bank Liaison Officer for the Gambia. In 2013, Joof visited various project sites in the Gambia along with Ministry of Agriculture officials to gain a better understanding of various challenges they faced. Currently, Mr. Badara Alieu Joof is serving as the Vice President of The Gambia.
The universities across the world have long been awarding 'Honorary Degrees' to people with extraordinary work and credibility in their respective areas. The honorary degree does surpass universities 'usual requirements of admission, assignments, and attending classes. However, they have recognize the well-connected, well-educated, and well-accomplished dignitaries across the world. With three decades of history and timeline, Suresh Gyan Vihar University has its heart centered around the cause of education, student triumphs, and India's progress.
An M.O.U for mutual collaboration in the field of Biotechnology, Skill Development, Agriculture, Short & Long Term Courses for the Civil Services, Hospitality Management, ACCA, etc., was also signed and exchanged between the University and the Embassy of The Gambia. With this collaboration, we look forward to enhancing our research, education outcomes and student engagement across countries.
