In a world divided by prejudices, plagued with inequality and riddled with systemic deficiencies, it's only research and technology which have the potential to become great levellers and bring much needed order to the chaos of our times. Research is the common denominator between successful civilizations across times and ages, it is the bulwark of human progress and the foundation to a more equal, just, accountable and free world. We at SGVU are committed to creating new knowledge through path-breaking research and ensuring a better future for the human race.

A research oriented University, SGVU aims to nurture large groups of faculty and scholars working on transformational technologies that have the potential to address the systemic, societal, infrastructural and upcoming challenges faced in India and around the world. Across multiple disciplines , eclectic and future-forward research being carried out at the University while adding to existing knowledge bank is also trying to bridge the gap between academia and the Industry. A major component of the research being carried out at SGVU aims at creating solutions which can be implemented, replicated and mass produced by the Industry so that the knowledge created reaches out to the grassroots. This trickle down approach to research, the drive to reach the weakest, poorest and the marginalized has been the cornerstone of our efforts and serves as our guiding light. Industry- and government funded research and development is a major component of this effort that enunciates Suresh Gyan Vihar University being recognized as a global leader. Our aim has been to bring the best of global resources and personnel to the University to create an Ecosystem that thrives towards excellence. Our centres of excellence have been envisioned, curated and created with the objective of harnessing the best of human talent in science to create the technologies and solutions of tomorrow that can change the world as we see it.

Our major initiative is a plan to develop focused research centers in the university on different areas— approximately 30 such active centers at SGVU. It is envisaged that each Centre of Excellence will involve 5–10 faculty members drawn from multiple disciplines. The Centers of Excellence would also be multi-institutional, involving partnerships with other universities (viz. IITs, IISC), research organizations, industrial partners and government agencies from all around the world.

Specific objectives and targets of Research at SGVU:

To be known as the best educational research university in the world in all our areasnof engagement.
To make significant contributions to the technological needs of the world.
To publish era defining research in the best scientific journals of the world.
To nurture the unique strength of SGVU in research and development leading to technologies with immediate societal value (water, energy, housing, healthcare, education, IT, etc.).
To establish two or three new research centers of excellence each year, built around focus themes for which SGVU should be known globally for the national and societal impact as well as the new knowledge that they create.
To increase the value of total funded research to approximately 100 crores per year.
To increase the number of industry-driven projects and patents.
To be engaged in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, engaging multiple centers of excellence.
To increase the number of patents applied for annually to 100-200
To commercialize 5–10 research innovations annually.
To encourage “idea to product” pre-incubation activities involving teachers and scholars.

The overall research plan for developing research and industrial consulting activities at SGVU in next 5 years is to vigorously identify research areas, find solutions and ensure the extension of the research undertaken, by engaging global talent, buliding world class research infrastructure, forging relationships with the global research community and partnering with pioneering research bodies of the world.
To fulfill our objectives SGVU calls upon the global scientific community, researchers of all disciplines, scholars of all known areas of knowledge and skilled personnel who can join in on our mission to transform the world through research. We call upon scientists and researchers from all around the world to come and become a part of our efforts to create truly productive research.

To be part of a focused research group or Research center at SGVU and produce novel research.
To guide Ph.D and PG scholars as per UGC norms and mentor their research efforts.
To create a minimum of two online courses and adequate assessment tools per semester in an effort to standardize education.
To write and publish research papers in national and international publications of repute and further the University's objective of leading the research efforts in academia.
To apply for funding and related support from government agencies and the Industry.
To develop an ecosystem that promotes consultancy to relevant industrial sectors.
To enhance the intellectual property of the University by working on patents, inventions, solutions and processes that revolutionize academia and industry.
To mentor at least one Assistant/associate professor so that they become a research related asset to the University.
To attend the RAA meetings/Monthly research meetings of the concerned department which won't be more than 3 days a month.
To attend all meetings related to Research Development/NAAC/NIRF etc.
