Admission Procedure for Foreign Students

 

Admission Criteria

Foreign Nationals can seek admission to various Under-graduate, Postgraduate and Research Programmes under the following categories:-

 

Self-financing Students (Full Programme)

Cultural Exchange Fellowship Programmes (Govt. of India)

 

Foreign nationals seeking admission in any of the aforesaid categories will have to satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the programmes as prescribed by the University.

 

Admission Procedure

(I) Under self-financed category:

 Foreign Students, who wish to join under Self-financed Category, are required to submit their application to the Academic Office. The respective department of the University scrutinizes these applications. The student concerned / the relevant Embassy (with a copy to the student ) will be informed about the University’s decision. However in case of students from restricted countries i.e. Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, the application MUST be forwarded though their respective Embassy.

 

(II) Foreign Students with ICCR Scholarship (Government of India)

Candidates desirous of admission under this Fellowship Programme are required to apply though the Indian High Commission / Embassy as the case may be, in their respective Countries. They will send the application to ICCR, Government of India and then ICCR will forward the application/s to the University. In case the applicant is found suitable for admission, an admission offer letter will be sent to him/her though the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.

 

Eligibility :

For under-graduate students, SAT (or equivalent exams) transcripts with the explanation of the marks / grades will be required. For Post graduate students the transcripts of GRE/GMAT (as the case might be)/ or equivalent exams along with the relevant explanation of the marks/grades will be required. In all other matters the Academic Rules & Regulations applicable to Indian students with regard to eligibility and evaluation are applicable to Foreign Students also as outlined in the brochures (please see: http://www.gyanvihar.org).

 

Visa requirements

It may also be noted that the student who is finally admitted to this University must have passport clearly showing a student/Provisional Student Visa for visiting students, M.Tech. & other post graduate Programmes; and Research Visa for Ph.D. Programmes. In case of students from the restricted countries, the student / his respective Embassy should forward, before joining the Institute, the Clearance and No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Dept. of Secondary & Higher Education to the Academic Section of Suresh Gyan Vihar University. (Without the NOC and Ministry clearance, admission will not be confirmed).

 

Medical Facilities 

It is advisable that you get a general check up done before departure, to ensure that you do not suffer from any major ailments.

 

Documents required :-

Foreign students applying for Under-Graduate/Post Graduate Programmes are required to submit the following documents:-

(i) Application form (as available on the Academic website) [please email a copy of the application form to :- admissions@gyanvihar.org]

(ii) Copy of the grade transcripts with the explanation of the assigned grades.

(iii) Statement of purpose.

(iv) Bio-Data/Curriculum Vitae/Resume

(v) Financial Undertaking

a. A letter of recommendation from the Govt.. certifying that the fees will be paid by the Govt., or

b. A copy of the student’s bank statement showing a balance of US $ 5000( in case of  under-graduate / 2 year post graduate program) or US $ 5000 (in case of a Ph.D. program).

(vi) Personal particulars of Foreign Scholars coming to India (download)

(vii) Three recommendation letters – at least one recommendation should be about the student’s academic performance issued by a faculty member.

(viii) Documentary proof to illustrate fluency in English language.

 

If English is not the first language, or language of medium of instruction (during secondary & tertiary education), a pass in any of the following two test will be required.

1) The Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service in the US, in which scores of at least 580 overall and 4.0 in the Test of      Written English are required. The computer based test requires scores of at least 240 overall and 4.0 in essay writing. The internet based test requires scores of at least 95 overall with a minimum score of 20 in writing.

2) The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) test, administered by the British Council, in which scores of 6 or more in each section and an overall score of 6.5 are required.

 

Visiting Students (Under Student Exchange Programme through ICCR):-

1. Application form. (Download)

2. Copy of the grade transcripts with the explanation of the assigned grades.

5.  An undertaking to bear all the charges including the tuition fees, accommodation & food charges and all other incidental charges during the course of his/her stays at SURESH GYAN VIHAR UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR.

6. Personal Particulars of Foreign Scholars coming to India. (Download)

7. A Bona fide certificate from the Home University certifying that you are the student of the University & they have no objection in your studying at SURESH GYAN VIHAR UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR.

8. 2 recommendation letters from the faculty.

9. Documentary proof to illustrate fluency in English language.

Test scores more than two years old will not be accepted for consideration.

Fee structure  #

a) The fees for various Under-graduate, Post graduate and Ph.D programmes will be payable as per Annexure 3 of the application form at the time of admission.

b) In addition there will be one time Admission fee of Rs. 6,000.00

And a fee for International Students Association of Rs.2, 000.00

c) Hostel fees: Rs. 70,000.00 per year.

d) Refundable Caution Money of Rs. 2,000.00 to be paid at the time of admission.

* A semester is considered to be a period of 4 months
