Department of Mechanical Engineering

Department labs include workshop, metrology lab, Mechanics of solids lab, Material Science Lab, Fluid Mechanics, Machines Lab, Thermal Engineering and Heat Transfer Lab, Dynamics of Machines Lab, and Vibration Lab. CAD Lab with Auto CAD, CATIA, Pro/E, Solid Edge software.

The workshop is having all basic machines used by the industry such as lathe, Milling Machine, Universal cutter grinder, Drilling Machine etc. apart from welding shop, fitting shop, Sheet Metal Shop and foundry. These basic facilities are further supported by good measuring Instruments of metrology Lab which caters to the need of the workshop practice and production Engineering Lab. Material Testing facilities such as UTM (Universal Testing Machine), Hardness testing machine, fatigue testing Machines and Metallurgical Microscope form parts of Mechanics of solids and material sciences Lab. Fluid Machines and M/C Lab is equipped with Francis Turbine, Centrifugal pump testing, Bernoulli’s Theorem test Apparatus, Pipe friction test setup and other related equipments to test for orifice and pipe fittings. Dynamics of Machines Lab is equipped with material gyroscope, Balancing test setup, Journal Bearing friction test setup, Universal governor test setup, sliding friction test setup, linkage mechanism, bell crank lever apparatus watts mechanism, cams etc. Vibration Lab is equipped with a Universal Vibration testing, and noise meter. Heat transfer Lab is equipped with equipments to conduct experiments for seduction, convention and radiations. Thermal Engineering Laboratory is enriched with Duel fuel Engine Testing, Diesel Engine testing, compressor testing basis.

The department seeks to provide a comprehensive rigorous education. Apart from this, seminars are arranged for personality development of the students.
