Centre for Air & Water Modalling (CAWM):
CAWM was initiated by Gyan Vihar Universe as a
research centre for air and water testing in the year
2002. Deeply concerned by the growing deterioration in
the quality of water and air, CAWM commenced
investigative studies of the problems related to air and
water pollution that affected the health of the general
populace.
CAWM was established with the following objective in
mind:
• To provide an institutional framework that will
support collaborative research across disciplines and
offer the expertise and advice of the faculty members of
Gyan Vihar Universe in engineering, bio-technology,
microbiology, earth and environmental sciences.
• To interact with research organizations like BIST,
NEERI, CSE, IITs, CESE, IIMs, AICTE, DST and the
National Laboratories in India, and similar research
facilities abroad.
The Centre develops research projects regarding areas of
concern that are having a deleterious effect on the
health of the local population. Quality of air and water
are matters of not just national but of universal
concern, and we at Gyan Vihar devote a considerable
amount of time and energy to find solutions to local and
state problems, and draw the attention of the concerned
authorities to them. Our projects have integrated
interdisciplinary co-ordination with areas of science
and engineering that are related to air and water
pollution in order to resolve problems that need urgent
attention, as well as proposing long term strategies to
obviate the recurrence of this scourge.
The broad areas of the focus of our research are further
sub-divided into segments that call for specialization
and development in technologies that address the primary
problems the quality of air and water vis-à-vis their
effects on the human population. At times certain
segments identified as thrust areas have a significant
impact on the development infrastructure including labs
and the concomitant equipments, as well as on the growth
of scientific, technological and human resources.
In the course of our work new ideas are constantly
thrown up, and unexplored areas of work are taken up for
study and development. These more often than not result
in new and startling findings. And these have a benign
and positive effect on the improvement of life styles,
environmental impact, health and safety hazards, and
even on the study of climate variation.
OBJECTIVES
-
Key indicators are water, soil and air.
-
Offer advise and suggestions to Policy making bodies
and regulatory authorities (CGWB, RSGWB, PHED, RSPCB
&, RllCO). Ensuring Water and air quality standards,
and reduction of water & air pollutants.
-
Establishment of a database centre for air and water
samples of different localities
Searching and processing materials, and designing of
tools/ equipments for the air and water models.
-
Development of appropriate green chemistry.
-
Develop efficient and adaptable technologies for
problems of polluted air and water as prototype
equipment/ machines.
-
Safe water purifiers and accessories for breathing
apparatus.
-
Development of efficiently working, and adaptable
rural & urban area purifiers
-
To work out air and water pollutants (pesticides,
toxic metals, bacteria’s protozoan, parasites,
algae, fungi, suspended particles, and industrial
wastes), analyze them provide a solution to the
problem at hand.
-
Rain water contamination with a large number of
pollutants that are man-made, and deviations in the
weather patterns.
-
Study of pollutants such as suspended particulate
matters, volatile organic compounds and toxic gases
-
Research, study and analysis of weather patterns and
pollutants.
-
Environmental impacts as of buildings, modern
architecture, greenery as well as reduction of crop
yield, and the reduction of aquatic animals and
plant.
-
Water Management issues { different water resources
and their viability), water conservation, waste
water engineering & technology , air monitoring
technologies ,potable water and health hazards
,water pollutants, water testing techniques &
standards , Climate and environmental activity, soil
chemistry, it’s social and economic impact,
ecological impact analysis and modeling and
simulation systems}
-
Correlation between Ground water flow and Chemical
fluxes
-
Knowledge creation & management in specific areas;
Innovation in Technology
-
Rain water Conservation: Roof water harvesting cum
artificial GW recharge as designing, implementation
of system and promotion of Community Water
Recharging.
